pixellated, i thought there were some amazing rooms in there...that weren't picked as finalists. the only problem i have with the finalists is that some of them seem very similar to me. which is probably why i'm not a judge! :)

dreamsrey, i'll read almost anything. admittedly, most of the brightly coloured books are popular fiction from 1970s-present, but i'll read anything...except poetry. i would say it's a 40% hardback to 60% paperback ratio.

flaschenpostpics, it has been discussed in the comments previously: 1. i've read all these books (at least in part), so i'm relatively familiar with the book at face value; 2. arranging them this way gives even greater familiarity as they are constantly being rearranged, 3. when all else fails, i've got delicious library as a database :)

lucas, yes, these are mostly fiction/literature, but there are some travel guides/history books thrown in there. i have all my texts/craft/cooking books in different shelves, which are all organized in a more traditional manner. even if you just have a small selection of books that are organized this way, it can still make a big impact.

hello alma! i have too many, but i think these are at least in my top 5: houdini girl by martyn bedford (top shelf, fourth book in from the left-hand side, uk paperback; also have us paperback but hidden by sofa), the eyre affair by jasper fforde (top shelf, three copies by the red moose, uk hardback), and absolute beginners by colin macinnes ('white' shelf, directly across from this bookshelf, not shown).
