I noticed this when I was ordering from Amazon for Christmas as well. I thought that was interesting, but I use a widget on my Mac and iPod Touch that gets updates on packages called Delivery Status (by JuneCloud). It can track by Amazon Order # (very cool!) or by tracking # of FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, and many others. Otherwise I'd have tried this out.
