Albino Squirrel

Albino Squirrel by Sam Blackman.
My wife is absolutely obsessed with a pair of albino squirrels that live near Jamaica Pond in Jamaica Plain, MA. Every time she's out running she tells me whether or not she spotted them. I had never seen them before until the day I was carrying my camera. It was loaded with Tri-X 400ASA, so you'll have to believe me when I tell you that the eyes of this little guy were blood red - a true sign of albinism. He scampered away about 5 seconds after I snapped this shot.

Normal squirrels make me twitchy. If I saw this one I might freak out totally. Evil little buggars.

There's an albino squirrel in the park near my house in south London. Haven't managed to get it on film yet, though.

Congratulations! This image is currently one of Flickr's most interesting photos for 28 March 2006. (It is on page one of the calendar view.) Would you please add it to the Interestingness pool? It would be a great addition!

that's very cool. Amazing they've lived this long, many albino animals don't survive because they stick out & are easy prey for predators.

Your shot is beautiful and simple and rich.An attestment to you and your presence with nautre. Why then would Mother Nautre allow oyu to be there when an albino squirrel was at the same time.Your karma is great, and the collaboration between you the artist and this little special abberation of nature shows that you are in tune.:-)James

I saw an albino squirrel once. It was crazy. Same day I saw an albino alligator (no lie!). Somewhere in Pennsylvania, I do believe. Might have been Massachusetts, I can't remember. There should be an albino photograph group.
