"Roots"

The claim by Alex Haley, author of Roots, to have traced his ancesters, the Kinte family back to Jufureh in the Gambia, made this an exciting place to visit. This beautiful lady, is part of the Kinte family is a great, great, great......... grand daughter of Kunte.

We also met distant family members of Chicken George and Kizzy!

It's not the first time I have been there, but I adore the people and the long journey to get there is really worth it. I have gone to the authenic Mandinka village over land and down the River Gambia.
