AREA OVERVIEW
Saint Thomas Residences is a group of 250 private flats inside the "Saint Thomas Holiday Village".
Some of them are rented as "self-catering flats" through the website www.saintthomasresidences.com

The 5 stars complex is located in the Municipality of Sozopol, and more precisely between the Duni Beach and Arkutino Area, on the Humata cape, in one of the few last untouched areas on the Bulgarian Southern Black Sea coast.
Cape Humata is located close to protected areas of lake Alepu, island Saint Thomas, lagoon Arkutino and the mouth of Ropotamo river.

All the buildings inside the holiday village have been built in the old Sozopol architecture style.
The complex represents the ideal combination between luxury accomodation and relaxing/silent place where our guests can enjoy the best feelings that wild nature and unspoiled sea can offer.
Being surrounded by many natural reserves the complex has been planned with a "green spirit": on this purpose the cars are forbidden inside the complex and it has its own wastewater treatment plant.

Saint Thomas complex is 10 Km far from the old town of Sozopol, and 12 far from Primorsko. In Bourgas - main city 45 Km far from the complex - there is an international airport which links to the main European destinations. Sozopol is also reachable through car and bus.

Sozopol is an ancient town and seaside resort located 35 km south of Burgas on the southern Black Sea Coast of Bulgaria. Today the town is mostly a seaside resort known for the Apollonia art and film festival (which takes place in early September) and is named after one of Sozopol's ancient names.
The busiest times of the year are the summer months, ranging from May to September as tourists from around the world come to enjoy the weather, sandy beaches, history and culture, fusion cuisine (Bulgarian, Greek, Turkish), and atmosphere of the colourful resort.

St. Thomas Island or "Snake Island" is a Bulgarian island in the Black Sea, 15 km south of Sozopol. It has an area of 0,012 square kilometres and is the only place in Bulgaria where wild cacti grow, brought from Bratislava and planted on the orders of Tsar Boris III in 1933. They have covered most of the island since then.
St. Thomas Island is named after a chapel dedicated to Saint Thomas that once existed on it. Snake Island, the alternate name, refers to the abundant grey water snakes that inhabit it, feeding on fish. The island is part of the Ropotamo nature reserve and lies 0,2 nautical miles southeast of the Humata Foreland in the Arkutino Bay.

The Ropotamo (from the Ancient Greek word meaning "border river") is a relatively short river in southeastern Bulgaria. It takes its source from the Strandzha Mountains, running for about 50 km to empty into the Black Sea between Dyuni and Primorsko.
The river is most often noted for its 30 m-wide mouth that is home to an abundance of flora species, over 100 of which endangered in the country. The lower section of the Ropotamo is a nature reserve since 1940 and a protected area. The lower Ropotamo is a popular tourist attraction because of the water lilies and the rock formations above the river, on some of which white-tailed eagles nest.
