Spooky Night

Spooky Night

Had a good time experimenting with different lighting angles on this tree. This one turned out being my favorite. I lit this one from behind and a little to the side. Fortunately, this tree was on top of a little rise so it allowed me to hide behind the hill while lighting up the tree.

Peaking Through

Peaking Through

These three shots are from the all-nighter last weekend that I almost didn't go on due to too much cloud cover. Funny thing is that the clouds were the reason I almost didn't go, but ended up being one of the coolest parts once they opened up enough to let the stars through. These three were taken around this crazy arch I found near Windy Point up on Mount Lemmon north of Tucson.

Mike's Secrets to a Great Photo

Mike's Secrets to a Great Photo

Had the chance to hang out with the famous (or infamous) Mike Jones this evening in Saguaro National Park. I learned a few things. Always jump right in front of the other guy as he's shooting, climb up on top of your truck or car, and never forget to show off those sexy legs.

Reach for The Stars

Reach for The Stars

I pulled an all-nighter Saturday morning with a friend. We started at midnight and headed up the mountain. We almost cancelled because of blanket of clouds had rolled in. I could only see one star when I left my house. My original intention was to do some star trails, but the clouds mucked up that idea. Fortunately, there were still a lot of gaps in the clouds for the stars to make an appearance. And the clouds really gave off that ethereal orangish glow thanks to Tucson's city lights in the distance. This shot was done with just a little light painting on the foreground and tree. I didn't even see the meteor until I got home on got the photo up on the computer screen.

Note: I'm standing on a very precarious and slippery slope and my feet were killing me standing at that crazy angle. My friend, Jeff, removed an old dead stump that was in our way and almost took out his brand new 5dIII in the process. It was almost a very expensive night.

Derailed

Derailed

I set aside a few hours to organize photos on my computer today. The idea was to free up a ton of space. The problem was I kept getting sidetracked by images that I wanted to edit. Organizing is over-rated! I did get a lot of editing done on a bunch of images I completely forgot about.

This is from Javelina Rocks inside Saguaro National Park.
