sugar factory in Maui. Right next to the sugar museum. They only process the sugar, it's not refined on the island. The raw sugar is shipped to the mainland to be further process to become white sugar. If you come across white sugar in Maui, it's imported from the mainland. You'll most commonly see raw sugar.

Olau Koa

Olau Koa

Olau Koa means a very strong wind, strong enough to blow the leaves off the Koa tree.
These turbines are in the Kaheawa pastures, the word Kaheawa discribes the wind pattern typically found in the area.
The reflections off the window of the helicopter bother me, but I really like this shot anyway.
