matzo ball soup

matzo ball soup by sa_ku_ra.
A little derivative, actually... I was inspired to make matzo ball soup by this:

I've been eating this for 3-4 meals now :)

I don't know about that... :)

But it was the best damned chicken soup I ever made.

Well, it certainly looks quite toothsome. :)

What herb did you use?

The herb that's floating on top is dill. I chopped it up and threw it in at the end.

Those spoons are awesome. I swear by them :) You can get them at Asian grocery stores or places like Pier 1.

Dill would be interesting with the soup.

I saw some of the spoons at one of the grocery stores I visited yesterday.

I'm quite taken with a Chinese-style cleaver, too.

Thanks Kat - too hot to make it this week, but I have a feeling this is going to become a staple :)

Joel: the dill makes the soup!

Those cleavers are great... you can hack chicken into smaller pieces with the bones still in them...

never had this before, and it sure looks good! On Chinese cleavers, it's one knife I can never go without in the kitchen... I feel 'handicapped' whenever I help out in friend's kitchens and they don't have a cleaver =)

...you know what they say about chicken soup and comfort food (North America version)? I always thought that some variant of the Jewish chicken soup epitomizes what that chicken soup is supposed to be.
