It's a small world. Flickr can be wonderful. (Island. A Story of Love and Death in a New Land by Penelope Todd)

I'd like to share a nice little flickr story with you…..

45 months ago now, back in 2006, when i was fairly new to flickr and still using my old panasonic point and shoot camera, i posted this shot of a typical stormy day at one of my favourite locations, Freshwater Bay, UK.

I wasn't in many groups and didn't have a lot of contacts at the time, so when it was chosen by Jill (BorealNZ who is from New Zealand) as 'Icon of the day' for the TWTME group, it seemed like a pretty big deal, and it was the first time i'd had that level of interest and exposure.

Looking back at the shot now, i still like it, (which is pretty rare for me) and i think it stands up against most of the stuff i've gone on to create with more expensive equipment.

Anyway, fast forward 4 years and i got an email from Jill saying she was just looking at the book reviews in her local paper and saw a book with a cover that looked very familiar. The book was by a local author from Dunedin in New Zealand!.

Well, it was the same one Jill had chosen way back in 2006, which had subsequently been licensed by getty and sold to Penguin in NZ, and used as the cover for the book you can see above! What are the chances of that happening (as Harry Hill would say)

I did have a link for it, but the site was down when i tried it (massive demand?) so i've removed the link.

Small world eh, thanks Jill :)

BTW, i've no idea if the book is any good, and i'm not endorsing it here (yet), but i think i might get a copy and find out!
