A portrait of a monkey

Big kiss
i want to take him in my arms !
A portrait of a monkey by s-a-m.
Okay, i know this isn't within the realm of my usual work, but he was way too cute to resist!
He's a tiny fellow, around the size of both my palms combined.
Taken at the Monkey School @ Chiang Mai, Thailand.

They actually have different levels for these monkeys; primary, high school & graduates! A bit sad though..they aren't allowed to move freely. All of them had chains around their necks or feet.

This was taken on film!

here is a happier one of him, he's sorta smiling here..though still in his cage.

after a few shots, i started playing with him, and he started pulling and eating my hair. i was so afraid! but it was nice meeting him regardless :)

I find this more than a bit sad. It's a horror. Look at the sores on his nose. He's a tortured imprisoned living being.

Oh bless him he is really the sweetest you just wanna steal him and take him home!! I was in Chiang Mai a few weeks ago and we missed the Monkey school as the Snake show was sooooo exciting LOL (actually not nice at all!) we avoided all other de tours...as the others in the group didnt want to stop. Wish I had now though as this is such a sweet photo! Well done a real fav!
Please consider posting it to our new group! Have a great day.

Poor little guy! I can see the scabs on his nose where he's scraped himself on the bars.

By the way: Can anyone else get in on chewing your hair? Or at least sniffing it...and you...

thanks a bunch all! I'm really glad you like it, and him of couse!

Achiam: Ouch! that must have been quite a large monkey, lucky this one was small :D

S H A D O W: oh no.. you should have visited all the sites! I love that place as compared to bangkok..it's so much cooler and calmer! :D

Paul: hahaha I guess only he gets that privilage! thank you :)

Well, I'm not too sure if those wounds were caused by his attemps to break free though..they do let all of them out a few times a day.
When they let him out, he ran and ran and jumped all over, splashing water everywhere etc. haha, so maybe he hurt himself somewhere else? :D

wow.. truly.. i'm touched by this portrait.
first,.. portrait is a very good name, because it has features of a traditional portrait (like of humans) then, you captured the sadness (is it sadness?l i can'T tell ..but not happy anyways) in the eyes and the features of the face in all it's little details!

expressive. moving...

xctmx: yeah i truly agree with you on that! :D he's really sweet and playful

Katherina: thank you so so much! :D and yeah, i would say he's pretty sad here..he was so desperate to come out from his cage. But I hope the other smiley picture i put up as a comment made everyone feel better :)

while this photograph is well taken i am amazed you use the expression "way too cute" for what is a poorly looked after exploited and ill-maintained animal. this creature is not an doll to be photographed just for fun but a living being.
