Very nice composition, you could have easily photographed this bird in a an evergreen or a tree with green leaves, but you chose to take it in a tree with red buds. This MAKES the composition very unified! Keep up the good work!

      Sooo Beautiful!
This is definitely a winner, of what contest I'm not sure.
The dark blurred tree in back & the bright white edges
really sets off the bird & little red buds.
Who says the males R the pretty 1s?
This little lady will end that idea.

a fine photo indeed, the red tones of the bird and the berries work very well
however i would offer the following critiques:
-CA on the branches in the left of the frame
-the bird is looking out of the frame which leads the eye out.

Great specimen. Feathers look wonderful, but I wish there was more sharpness on the beak. However, the DoF is nice, love the red throughout.

    43. Ryan Guill (88 months ago | reply)

Thanks to everyone for your praise and critiques! Doleboy, what do you mean by CA?

Also, Zulpha put in rating 5 along with Doleboy, So that makes Fiats Rating 7 actually, so just need three more.

Shelley, I should be giving access to the original, so set it to your desktop and it can be outside your window!

And just for the record, those aren't berries, they are the buds of the mapel tree. We just had a heavy snow this weekend, so I hope we don't lose them all.

Hey essjay, I did score 7 (actually 8 I think) from the back of the pool that didnt already have 10 ratings.

Well done. I like the sharp bird within the branches at all depths, and the red buds make it seem like she's trying to fit in.

It's a good shot! Pity the dark tree in the background that spoils it, But bird photography can be quite tough. The colours go well with the bird. Think it needs a tighter crop though. A little too centred.
