Feelin' mighty low

Tomorrow morning we will be leaving for our Chautauqua cottage where we will be until early September.

Our lives there are busily and enjoyably hectic... lectures, concerts, ballets, master classes, recitals, guests, family, happy hours, parties... and... to cap things off, this summer I will be teaching a photography class during two different weeks ( 1 1/2 hours for five days... whew!)

Bottom line... my Flickr participation will necessarily be sporadic: Viewing ... commenting... posting.

I hope you have a wonderful summer and enjoy many high points and memorable moments along the way.

Some of the 5640!

The Massey Memorial Organ is located on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution. It is the largest outdoor pipe organ in the world, with 5640 pipes. The organ was built in Chautauqua's 5000-seat wooden Amphitheater in 1907 by a donation from the Massey family of Toronto. In 1993, the organ was reconstructed by the Fischer Pipe Organ Company of Erie, PA.

During the Chautauqua season, which runs from late June to late August, the organ is used extensively for worship services, recitals, demonstrations, tours of the workings and children's encounters with the instrument and the music it can make.

Highlighting only what really matters

When my Flickr contact, Tumbleweed, saw that I was foolin' around with Picasa, she strongly suggested that I also give Picnik a try... so I did. It appears that both Picasa and Picnic have several dramatic effects which are "different" and easier to use that what is available in Photoshop Elements. But neither has the power of PSE so it seems it will be benificail to use the best of each in conjunction with PSE.

The photo above is one of the Picnik effects. I originally had a border on the photo, but thanks to Kimbar and Beccafromportland I "came to my senses" and removed it. Thanks Kimbar and Becca!!
