John Hatfield Cribb 1868 - 1912. (300dpi)

John Hatfield Cribb 1868 - 1912. (300dpi)

This photograph of my Great Grandfather has been scanned from an original print in our family album, and for the use of Australia Maritime Museum (due to the fact he was born in South Australia) in the 100th anniversary of the sinking of RMS "Titanic". it is to be reproduced at possibly A3 so some cleaning up of the scanned image was required as the original had some quite distintive pitting and fading of the paper.

John Hatfield Cribb was a son of Robert Cribb from Wareham, Dorset, UK. John was born in Australia but moved back to England later in life where he married Bessie Jane Welsh in Poole and set up home in the Parkstone area. They had four children, Ellen, Ernest, Laura and Frank. John spent some of his life crossing the Atlantic as he worked as a Butler for some wealthy Americans.

He unfortunatly lost his life whilst on the maiden voyage of the RMS "Titanic" but thankfully his daughter Laura , who was accompanying him on this trip survived the sinking and went on to marry and continue the rest of her life in the US.
