Earth's Lament

The colour version which I think I prefer... 45mm Tilt Shift.

My wife wanted this one on the wall, until she realised it was an image about death rather than life... The concept I was trying to deliver here was actually a pretty deep hidden message about how we are treating the earth; the clover flowers represent the stars in the sky, the nest is the earth, and the egg at the centre of the nest is life itself - the feathers representing how precious life is.

The fact is that this egg was neglected and is dead, abandoned by the Blackbird that put it there. It's my attempt to draw a parallel with how humans are treating our planet, hence the title "Earth's Lament". A little too deep perhaps for some, but I just wanted to get across that this was not intended to be just a random birds nest image - I feel sure that extinction of human life on earth is inevitable, and a lot sooner than we think.
