Hull's Fruit District, currently undertaking a degree of regeneration, with the Tidal Barrier in the background. The barrier is called into use about 12 times a year and has protected Hull from the effects of 33 severe tidal surges since its completion in 1980, recently underwent a £10m overhaul and saved the city from a record high tide of 4.9m last year which could have been catastrophic
