I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving -- we had a fun time with family and turkey. I'm currently drowning in holiday sessions, and I've got jury duty tomorrow, to boot. One of these days I might actually get around to decorating for the holidays and doing some shopping. Maybe.
The expression on Baxter's face is worth a closer look.

ISO Austin wedding photographer
ETA: The chucklehead my friend hired double-booked her! Anyone have any more suggestions in the $2500 and under range?
One of my very good friends is getting married in Austin next year and I told her I would go through my mental rolodex of flickr peeps to see if I could come up with any wedding photographer suggestions. No one is coming to mind, though -- do you guys have any recommendations I could pass along?

another day, another headswap
Oy, flickr. So busy with the picture-taking! It's a good thing, for sure, but helping others get ready for the holidays means I've done absolutely nothing to get ready for my own.
This image was taken with a new lens, the Nikon 135mm f/2D DC. I've been lusting after it for some time, but it's been out of stock everywhere for months, and rumor has it that Nikon will be discontinuing it. Every now and then I check on eBay and on amazon marketplace for any good deals on a used one, and last week when I went to the amazon page I was really surprised to see that amazon had one new one in stock. I bought it even though it was a hundred bucks more than the list price elsewhere, but all turned out well -- amazon reduced the price once I bought it and it was OOS again. So, I called and threatened to deny delivery and re-order at the lower price, and they agreed to just refund my credit card the difference. Yay!
The lens itself is going to take a bit of getting used to, but I can see why it's considered one of Nikon's premier portrait lenses -- the bokeh rendering is superb.
(This image looks significantly better and less crunchy when viewed large on black.)
