258/365: Now That You're Gone

258/365: Now That You're Gone

You brought me laughter
When laughter was what I needed
You brought me tears
To make me understand
You brought me gifts
To show me that you cared
You gave me friendship
And I never had to ask.

But I never gave you love.

Where is the laughter.
Where are the tears, the gifts
Now that you're gone
Never to return.
Where is the friendship
That I never understood
Until now.

256/365: Hip, Hip, Hurrah!

256/365: Hip, Hip, Hurrah!

When I grow up, I'll be President—
I'm pretty sure of that—
And I'll ride a horse, like George Washington,
And I'll wear a tricorn hat.
I won't make speeches, like presidents now,
I'll just make a proclamation
That every year, when my birthday comes,
All over the whole, wide nation,
There'll be parades—with fifes and drums,
And flags that toss and fly—
But instead of cherry, we'll all make merry
With our favorite kind of pie.

255/365: Some People

255/365: Some People

Isn't it strange some people make
You feel so tired inside,
Your thoughts begin to shrivel up
Like leaves all brown and dried!

But when you're with some other ones,
It's stranger still to find
Your thoughts as thick as fireflies
All shiny in your mind!

254/365: Real Riches

254/365: Real Riches

Tis little I could care for pearls
Who own the ample sea;
Or brooches, when the Emperor
With rubies pelteth me;

Or gold, who am the Prince of Mines;
Or diamonds, when I see
A diadem to fit a dome
Continual crowning me.
