Skies ablaze

Skies ablaze

The skies above Byron Bay light up in the last burst of rays from the day.

Three minute exposure using a 10-stop ND filter purchased from the amazing Mainline photographics (www.mainlinephoto.com.au).

This is shot from out the front of the lighthouse perched on Cape Byron; the most easterly point in Australia. Was a beautiful; beautiful evening I shared with the girl of my dreams.

Nurple

Nurple

Same sunrise, a little earlier on and surprisingly little photoshop.

10-stop ND filter. Only post-processing was raw conversion (with white balance) and a sensor spot removal.

Morning has broken...

Morning has broken...

Cape Byron Lighthouse, Byron Bay.

Perched atop the cape watching the sun rise. Shortly after sun rise I cruised around to this angle.

Single frame, 10-stop ND filter. Only post-processing was curves and a spot-removal.

It's hard to believe that after years of playing with cameras this was my first ever sunrise shoot.

It's even harder to believe that I got out of bed after two hours of sleep.

Hardest yet to believe is I didn't get to sleep until 4am the next morning after taking this shot. Riding the Greyhound bus home will do that to you.

Wormhole

Wormhole

Back end of an interesting drain.

Don't get too close to the event-horizon lest you get sucked in.

Light painted with a diffused, 500k candle-power super-torch.
