Northern Mockingbird_2007-07-02

The Mockingbird is sitting on a Cardinal finial. I was thinking of turning it right before this shot, in case a good photo opportunity happened. Hindsight…

I love the beauty of a Cardinal, but I must say that Mockingbirds are my favorite. I love to listen to them.

      Nice picture

What a BEAUTIFUL shot!!!! I love everything about it, even the "sideways" Cardinal finial :)

I agree with krom_mama - - - I LOVE to hear Mockingbird's sing, and I always think of Harper Lee's novel "To Kill a Mockingbird".

The young juveniles will sing all night in the spring. We had one right across the road singing at about 2:30 AM and never seem to stop. Great for protecting your yard against Hawks, Crows, and even cats. Love to see them dive bomb a cat :)

Thank you all. This is becoming one of my favorite shots. The sun was low in the sky, and I used a rear fill flash. The tree's off in the distance made for a beautiful back ground.
I get this Mockingbird perching on top of the finial a lot. I was hoping to be out there when he landed to get a shot.

This is one of my all time favortie shots. I had spotted my two Mockingbirds going after the suet on my feeder. So I decided to stand about 10 feet away with the camera pointed towards the feeder.
Sure enough, this Mockingbird landed on the finial on top of the feeder for the shot.
