Spirit of Ice: Platinum

Spirit of Ice: Platinum

The last image of my "Spirit of Ice" set. First I wasn't sure if the image would fit the others, since it's an HDR. Although I shot this handheld I managed to align the images good enough for a detailed view of this beautiful piece of ice.

UFRaw: correction of whitebalance
GIMP: noise removal, removal of flare
HDRAlignmentTool: alignment of HDR images
Essential HDR: tonemapping of 3 images
GIMP: darkening of stone, increase in saturation

Spirit of Ice: Bronze

Spirit of Ice: Bronze

I woke up early a cold morning in Helsingborg. Instead of taking a hot bath, like sane people would do, I took on my thermal underwear and walked to Filborna park.

First I tried shooting panoramas over the frozen lake, but there were too many pieces of ice on the lake, and the snow was spread unevenly over the landscape. Since I haven't really been shooting with my new Vivtar Series 1 28-105mm Macro lens (67mm thread), I decided to go for macro.

I found some great looking pieces of ice and headed to the highest point in the park, where I could shoot the ice with the sunrise over the park, as background.

UFRaw: correction of whitebalance
GIMP: darkening of background, boost in saturation.

Råå

Råå

Thought I upload some images from last summer. Panorama shot in Råå, an old fishing village south of Helsingborg city. Shot with my excellent Nikon E Series 50mm F1.8.
