Awesome keynote at the Open Video Conference in New York by Amy Goodman. She's a VERY clever rhetoricist. Very powerful emotive, persuasive speaker. I think the ICLEI people could learn a thing or two from her about how to present their ideas. This pic comes to you live from my ArtRage 2.5 painting software on my Rectron-sponsored Asus R1E tablet pc. My only question, is Democracy Now naive or part of the game?
There was an episode of South Park where Cartman went back in time to find out what the "founding fathers" thought of war. He concluded that they were brilliant because they devised a system to allowed for hypocrisy, to say one thing, but do another. To do this two voices are needed. Is DN the "other" voice? Different side of the same coin?
Howard Zinn wrote "A Peoples History of the U.S." Although he told the horror stories, he never addressed the "why" the Europeans needed to do such things. He made it seem like it was "universal" behaviors. It was not! Is D.N. similar? See both Zinn and Ms. Goodman only know the education of the Europeans and genocide can be mental as well as physical.
If you truly want to change something, you must start at the foundation. The base of the cultural essence. Most Europeans aren't wiling to make such change for the betterment of all humankind. They are either fearful or can't shake their own Europeaness!!!
