This is Unit 1 of the Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station. It is the functioning part of a once larger station.
Unit 2 was involved in the 1979 partial core meltdown, that resulted in the worst civilian nuclear accident in United States history. It is no longer in operation.
I passed by the plant while I was working. You can see it in the distance from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, but this was the first time I have been this close to it.
It actually "snuck up" on me. I was looking at properties in the area, and paying attention to my GPS and directions. All of a sudden, TMI was right in front of me.

There is something about a nuclear station that makes one stop and look - in awe, maybe? - especially one with such notorious history

Yes, this is the station. There are four towers at the station. The two in this picture were not damaged. The black and white photograph in my stream shows the stacks that were actually involved in the accident in 1979.
