Clifton's Cafeteria

Clifton's Cafeteria by I Nancy.
Clifton's Cafeteria. 648 South Broadway
In 1935, Clifford Clinton purchased the lease to this now-historic LA cafeteria from the Boos Brothers, who had established their cafeteria in 1916. The interior of the Clifton's 'Brookdale Branch' represents Clinton's re-creation of the Santa Cruz Mountains, where he spent his summers as a youth. Landscape artist, Francois Scotti, designed the 20-foot waterfall, and L.A. muralist, Elnar Petersen, painted the life-sized forest covering the wall of the main dinning room.
