Just as we were departing from the boardwalk, I caught the sight of what first looked like a stick with a fish on the end of it cutting across the water. The Anhinga headed for a log, where it displaced a couple of turtles that had been sunning there. It proceeded to pound the fish mercilessly, then attempted a "flip and catch," but it dropped the fish. The Anhinga then dove back into the water and shortly returned with its prize. After a few more thumps against the log, it flipped the fish up and down it went, head first.
