Bobcat 20100919

This was the presumed parent Bobcat. I happened to look down the 196th Avenue levee path and saw one dull-coated Bobcat lying down. It got up and ambled away. Then two other Bobcats emerged from the tall grasses along the path at the same spot. They appeared to be more reddish and more strongly marked-- I am quite sure there were three in all, and that the two may have been cubs. They played a bit and chased dragonflies. I should have used manual focus, as they were about 100 yards away and there was some grass across the trail in front of the subjects. This is the about my fifth sighting in this location. Last Fall I did see two adults, and there were scat piles indicating a male may have been marking the territory, so these may be his progeny. Morning walk in nearby West Miramar ESL, Broward County, Florida, September 19, 2010. Visit
