Lesser Yellowlegs 2-20091227

This fellow foraged apart from the other yellowlegs. Its back was quite unitformly brown, unlike the other yellowlegs, and I thought it looked smaller. It also bobbed quite a bit. I thought it might be a Solitary Sandpiper Badly backlit, I could not be sure of its leg color-- looked more orange than yellow, ruling out Solitary and raising thoughts of Spotted Sandpiper. Not hunched up like a Spotted and breast is all wrong. Probably an adult Lesser Yellowlegs in non-breeding plumage.
