Encore (client work)

    Newer Older

Thought I would post this today - some of my client work! I don't usually post client work since I have less creative input and control but that said I think it would be good to show a bit of diversity on my stream!!

This was from a shoot today with "Shinny" - a boxer turned musician/song writer who writes and sings the most beautiful acoustic music I've ever heard. You definitely don't expect the sweet music of his to come from his mouth when you first meet him!

One thing that has taken me a while to learn is how to take on non-personal projects and create images which still fit in with my portfolio. I try and go into each shoot with a vision - I was told that Shinny needed promo shots where he was "good looking, in a gym, with a guitar". Shinny wanted the guitar in the background of this shot, and aside from the boxing gloves, I had no other input other than where to place him, what equipment to shoot this with, how to compose the shot and how to edit it afterwards. These kinds of shoots have taken me a lot of work, but it's a great feeling to feel proud of client work and be able to whack it in with the rest of my personal work and say "I did this!"

If you'd like to see the before/after of this shot as well as his other shots, head on over to my facebook group!

This is great! I've recently taken up a marital art myself and this shot is wonderful.

The boxing musician perhaps, a tender yet brute strength threshold at the same time.

This is fantastic! Guitar should have been in the corner of the ring for a perfect boxing metaphor!
Sounds like he has some serious skills. Looking forward to the 2013 album.

Great portrait with nice tones and contrast how give a good sense of the person in the picture.

I just don't think it's very convenient to play guitar with boxing gloves... ;p

Great photo. He reminds me of Daniel Craig (James Bond;-) a little bit minus the tattoos of course. I'd love to hear his music.
