There's a clamp around one of the cables
coming out of the the electicity meter, and a
little transmitter. You can see a picture of that here.
The white unit above recieves that signal
and dsplays how many watts are being used in
the house right now, as well as all the other
data it displays above (cost per day, per
month, kilowatt hours used recently, graph of
yesterday's usage, date, temp, etc). There's
also a data cable connecting it to the
computer, so I'll be generating more detailed
graphs soon.

The Current Cost website doesn't currently make it easy. I actually
got mine from a friend at work. Apparently
you can can one online from the
Scottish/Southern Electric the eco gadget shop though (here's a direct link).
