Google in The Dalles

After a lot of speculation Google appears in The Dalles. This event is changing the town, just as the dam did and the aluminum plant in earlier years. If you wish to go back even further in time the settlers used this place on the river as a decision point as they traveled to their destination, the Willamette Valley. The choices were going by raft down the river or over Mt. Hood by wagon. Neither choice was easy. Later there was the time of the early 1900's and agricultural interests: wheat, sheep, and the fish wheel - the big catch of salmon.
