Motorway Predator
A very unusual sight these days. I spent hours in a specially constructed hide awaiting the appearance of the extremely rare "Transitosaurus Rex". This one is a female - as is obvious from the somewhat drab appearance of her winter coat - lurking in bushes just a few metres from the M5 motorway in Somerset.

A Drain on The Levels
I regularly cross The Somerset Levels en route to see a client in Street. The M5 and then relevant A-Road is of course the easier, quicker way to get there from home, but I like to take the minor routes across country. Shapwick Heath is a minor detour and whenever I've driven past it has either been dreadful weather or I've not had enough time to have a wander.

Still Waters
A Sunday morning in the middle of the Shapwick Heath Nature Reserve on the Somerset Levels. A fog was slowly lifting as I walked along the track around this lake and the light very flat. The birdlife was very quiet apart from some quarrelsome ducks in the distance as I sat in the Decoy Hide.

A Winter's Morning on Auchmithie Beach
Lovely rounded shingle. Wonderful Old Red Sandstone conglomerate and a slash of white quartzite. Add a blue sky and it makes a lovely winter's morning beside the sea.
