dead business

dead business by romanlily.
9:13 am: I just cleaned out my rolodex since I'll be leaving my job at the end of this week. Came up with quite a stack of expired business cards.

Bryan W. Erikson isn't responding to my faxes. Could you adjust angle of photo to include telly? Thanks.

Funny, the contacts that get accumulated, and then lost along the way.

Let's see, it looks like my contact at Doppler was Beverly Kennerly. Though this card has got to be at least five years old. Bryan Erickson was always very hard to reach by phone, though once you got him, he was very pleasant and helpful. A very strong midwestern accent, an eagerness to laugh. I always imagined him as blonde and strapping, but I suppose I'll never know now. I think I'm going to set a bonfire to these cards at the end of the year, warm my hands briefly with all the memories.

I interned at Doppler for a while while I was in college! Funny stuff. I don't remember a Bryan Erickson. I remember Bill Quinn and Joe. And I should remember Beverly, too. Was she the lady in the back that did accounting and stuff?

Quick funny story: I'm very, very white and don't know much about the hiphop scene - much less what people are in what band or group. So I was up at the desk late one night while some rappers were recording and some guy calls on the phone. He asks who is up there that night. Me, thinking its some joker trying to see if his favorite rapper is there, asks him who he is. I didn't recognize the name. Big mistake. It was one of the guys from Outkast (don't remember which one - not sure I understood him when he said it at the time). He was none too pleased. I quickly told him everybody there that night and passed the phone off to them shortly.

Heh... I was really out of place there but it was fun for a summer.

Yeah, beverly was the lady in the side office off the desk after you walked up the football field length of hallway. She was a latecomer to me. She had been there a year before i left. sorry about hijacking attention away from the pic.
