Old Toy Camera

When I took this one I saw in my mind's eye the look of an old toy camera, one that vignettes wildly and throws the colors deeply saturated. I felt that with the heavy primary colors I could emphasize them even more. The large aperture blurred out the background nicely, to give it more of that "plastic lens" look.

Truth be told, he's not actually bummed out as the story of the photo tells - in fact he's standing on a platform and is about to jump off, looking down to judge his landing I suppose. The engineer in the Thomas engine is waving to the crowd of kids behind me, waiting their turn for a photo with Thomas. I like the mini-story of the photo, but I am just as happy that Seamus wasn't as sad as it appears.

This is another snapshot, without any time for composition or manipulation before the opportunity was lost.

Some work I need to do to this is to remove the fake tattoos from his arm and hands, and I am considering changing the color of his shirt to a primary yellow. I'm greatful for the accident of the primary color of his shirt as it is, but I think he might stand out as the subject a bit more with a different color. I also want to see what I can do to emphasize better the engineer's wave.
