Coffee Calendar: Espresso Sketchtoon

An espresso sketchtoon drawn in my Moleskine sketchbook and colorized in Photoshop for my 2008 Sketchtoon Coffee Calendar available at CafePress for $19.99 + shipping.

These are gorgeous, Mike!!! I am very interested in the calendar. Love the blue with the whitened brushed white background underneath the text. Love the clear espresso glass. The top and bottom edge smudge color and effect is perfect. Fantastic.

One quibble: you don't shoot steam through coffee to make an espresso. Steam espresso machines use the steam to create pressure and push the remaining liquid water (195-205 degrees Fahrenheit) through the coffee.

You're welcome. To be even more pedantic, it's only the inexpensive home espresso machines and also stovetop "Moka pot" style espresso makers that use steam to build up pressure for the water. "Real" espresso machines use pumps to drive heated water at 195-205 degrees through the coffee grounds under pressure.

I think that's why I captured this... when I first sketched these I *had* a cheap Braun boiler but have since upgraded to a Braun pumper.
