This is Sebastian from Christchurch, an Artist and a Musician. A recent graduate from Art School Seb runs an art studio and gallery space in Christchurch with some friends called "ABC Gallery", and also plays guitar in a band called "The Unfaithful Ways" (they started up about two years ago).
The Unfaithful Ways were in Queenstown this weekend playing in a charity concert to benefit those affected by the recent earthquake in Christchurch and I met Seb in town at a restaurant called "Les Alpes". I was having late breakfast inside with some friends when he and his band members sat down on the patio outside. He had walked inside to look around and I happened to notice his tshirt, a dark green Beaver Canoe tee. For anyone not from Toronto Canada, Beaver Canoe was a clothing chain similar to ROOTS, but they eventually went out of business after several years. I recognized Seb's tee right away and was intrigued because I used to have a few myself but that was about 25 years ago! I was curious if he was a fellow Torontonian, and where and when he had gotten that tee so I excused myself from my table after pointing out his shirt to my friends and went outside to find out.
Sort of a strange way to meet someone but his band mates found it rather amusing as I introduced myself and asked about his tee. They found it even more amusing when I told them about 100Strangers and asked Seb if he'd be interested in participating. It turns out his grandfather had bought the tee for him many years ago while on a trip to Toronto and Seb has kept it since then. It was in pretty good shape for a 25+ year old tshirt!
"What was the last thing you ate before becoming Stranger #46 Seb?" ...an apple.
Thanks for participating Sebastian.
