400 day countdown
|
400 day countdown is a creative project
I did for 3 reasons:
1. I wanted to see if I could keep something up for as long as 400 days. I'm the kind of guy who loses interest in something after a while, so this was a challenge for me.
2. I wanted to see how creative I could be.
3. The day before I started the project, I decided that I would move to Taiwan to study Chinese. The project was a means to keep me motivated towards fulfiling this goal. Thus, '400 Day Countdown' is actually the start of a bigger project - fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
The rules of the project were as follows:
1. Starting at number 400 (in reality 398), count backwards until April 1st, 2009 (day zero)
2. Create a photographic image featuring the current day's number
3. The number must be represented in a unique way, or the photo must be easthetically pleasing.
4. No repeated ideas are allowed
5. Images must be created before midnight of the current day (late submissions are discouraged).
6. Images must be uploaded to my flickr account, tagged with at least '400days' and placed in reverse chronological order in the set '400 day countdown'
My goal is to represent the day's number in a unique way for 400 days. I'm not allowing myself to repeat an idea and the submission can't be late.
Most of the images were shot, edited and uploaded with a Nokia N82 mobile phone.
