very nice capture. I tend to like longer exposures (15" at about f22 is a common setting for me), but then, this image is much more striking than any of the ones I got this year (at least on digital -- I have yet to see my film shots, so we'll see), and an excellent first attempt! Good work!

edit: my digital shots were only 6 seconds, so that may be part of it. ;-) On the other hand, this image demonstrates to me that there are things you can capture with the shorter exposures that simply aren't captured (in the same way, at least) in a longer exposure with a tighter aperture.

Seeing this picture brings back SO MANY memories that I'm just overwhelmed. I remember working in a building downtown that had an AWESOME view of the Space Needle on New Year's Eve back in 1994 and I remember watching them light it up like this at Midnight.
