This is not a mirage ...

Explore #44 ... BIGGER is definitely better

Yes, this really is in the desert. And, yes, that's what passes for a city skyline out here, with those being about as "high rise" as you'll see (okay, so there are taller buildings in downtown Phoenix ... but not by much). :)

Tempe Town Lake (Arizona) just after sunset, shot from the north side toward downtown Tempe.

6-exposure HDR (-2EV to +3EV), processed and tone mapped in dphdr (Human Eye mode) with final processing in CS3.

EXIF: f/16, ISO 200, shutter speeds between 2.5sec and 30sec

This is an alternative edit, a digital blend of three exposures – baseline (0EV) and +/- 2EV - done manually in CS3. The HDR version above intentionally pushes saturation while this one is more muted, more true to the scene. Not sure which I prefer. I like the pop of the HDR yet the blend is more realistic in its subtlty.

    Your thoughts?

Wonderful HDR Rob, and I think I like the colour pop of this version better (though the other one is great too!), and the fact that it's less realistic appeals to me - you live in a crazy enough (to me) place of huge blue skies and wide open spaces, so why not exaggerate it with wild colours?

I really like the one with the pushed saturation. I feel the lighter color in the clouds on the other one draws your eye there instead of on the full, toned scene in the saturated shot. Man do I wish I had your Photoshop skills too. All your work is excellent.

F/1.0, 1mm? That's some odd EXIF, but a great shot and processing.

@Fort Photo --> that's modified EXIF data embedded in the TIFF file after HDR processing/tone mapping with dphdr. I will update the description with proper EXIF when I get home.

I like the more saturated version - I think the oranges pushed in the saturated version complement the blues very well.
