Ostrich on the loose

Ostrich on the loose

Thursday 15/11/01 Hillrise Rd., Collier Row, Romford, Essex..
Ostrich on the loose: Collier Row residents and RSPCA spend nearly 2 hours trying to round up an ostrich which had escaped from a local small-holding. Barry Fordham, one local resident, called the police on seeing the large bird and attempted to catch it. RSPCA inspector Steve Hazelwood initially 'hid in his car' but eventually aided the capture by shouting instructions. As local schoolchildren and residents gathered and watched the 'circus' , the owner Buster Cook arrived and led the animal , name of Godzilla, back home..

M11 vehicle fire

M11 vehicle fire

Monday 14/03/2004.
Travel chaos: Motorists and commuters were heavily delayed on Monday's rush hour. A fatal RTA involving two HGVs on the M11 between junctions 8 & 9 northbound resulted in closure of the motorway. This resulted in delays for those making their way to Stansted Airport. A car fire on the southbound carraigeway soon brought delays for those heading towards London. Rail networks between Chelmsford & Shenfield were also disrupted with many commuters taking to the roads or relying on a replacement bus service..
