Lake Louise, near Banff, in Alberta, Canada. Frozen solid, this was taken in January of 2001. Temperature was about 15 below zero F, while not far away in Calgary, it was unseasonably warm, in the low 40s.

I was amazing to stand in the middle of this frozen lake and be ablet to call my mom on my cell phone. She didn't know I had left Oklhoma and gone out of the country, so she was surprised when I told her from where I was calling.
Lake Louise puts on an ice sculpture contest every winter that is not to be missed.
