what makes the walls pink? natural colored stone (marble? lime?). or is it paint. the palace is an almost violent assault on the senses. consider me spent and surrendered.

Farl, some info I dug out for you - "Its purpose was simply to allow the royal women a view of ceremonial processions while seated behind the small windows, allowing them to look out without themselves being seen"... it is only a facade - has no buildings inside... the big thing here is the windows you see!
a lot of buildings in japiur are built with red-pink sandstone.

Jilmil, I know. I loved the place - and the distant views of the hills on one side and the city on the other from inside...

plus: Nicely framed within the arch. And fascinating subject matter.
minus: Lighting just a little flat. Maybe at a diiferent time of day the light could really lift this building.

yeah, yeah, yeah, I have a problem with tilt - *many* of my pictures seem to have a skew towards one side - my crooked world view!

as for the light, I wonder about what one can do when the existing day light seems not enough - any suggestions?
