Such a long journey...

Such a long journey... by Road Blog.
On the outside wall of the Modi haveli in Shekhawati - the region is known for its colorful and spectacular frescoes and murals inside the havelis or the huge mansions owned by the rich Marwari community.

This is an interesting mural that is indicative of the times that were changing during the period when these paintings were done - the panel under the roof has images of the lotus flower which is a traditional motif in India, on the top layer are typical scenes from Indian mythology, gods and goddesses in various poses, while the long horizontal layer at the bottom contains a steam engine, with passengers peering nervously out of each window!

The title is also a reference to the long jorney that these frescoes have withstood - bravely fighting the harsh desert climate for over a hundred and fifty years now - but seeming to get more and more tired of fighting the other enemy - i.e. human neglect and indifference....

I like your description which adds meaning to the shot above! But the vivid colours also make this shot striking! Nice work! :)
