The day before starting the Inca Trail hike in Peru I toured the Sacred Valley around Cusco, stopping at the small town of Chinchero in the early evening. Chinchero has a small colonial church built on Inca ruins, a marketplace, and not much more. During my visit the clouds provided a great backdrop for some blue hour shots, although I didn’t have my tripod with me so I had to do the best I could with high ISO.
I took this shot while everyone else was exploring the church itself. It's taken me a while, but I've finally learned that I have absolutely no interest in touring the inside of churches. Back when I took a trip around Europe, I dutifully filed into the major churches and cathedrals, tried to be interested, and always ended up bored (with the exception of Westminster Abbey). Only recently have I finally given myself permission to either skip churches entirely or walk in, take a quick look around, and walk right back out.
