Good Morning Everyone - Happy Ground Hog Day

Good Morning Everyone - Happy Ground Hog Day

Folklore suggests that if it is cloudy the groundhog won't see its shadow and SPring will come early BUT if it is sunny when it emerges from its burrow it will retreat back in and a longer winter will occur.

Forecast for my part of the country is a mixture of sun and cloud :-).

Have a great day everyone! If I happen to see a Ground Hog today, I'll definitely mention it in my blog :-) Ground Hog Day trivia

Pileated Woodpecker on the Jack Pine Trail

Pileated Woodpecker on the Jack Pine Trail

Took a stroll along the Jack Pine Trail today and, in addition to photographing Chickadees, Red Squirrels and White-Breasted Nuthatches, I was also able to get in close enough to photograph this woodland carpenter, the Pileated Woodpecker.

My day's blog entry: A bit of time on the Jack Pine Trail.

Skiiers on the Old Quarry Trail, Kanata

Skiiers on the Old Quarry Trail, Kanata

Aside from finding the two deer carcasses alongside the trail, yesterday's outing on the Old Quarry Trail provided lots of opportunities for fresh air and photography.

White-tailed Deer - Odocoileus virginianus

White-tailed Deer - Odocoileus virginianus

My travels on the Old Quarry today had its good moments like when I was feeding carrot chunks to this group of deer but, unfortunately, it also had its sad moments as there was plenty of blood and hair at in the woods at two locations beside the trails where a couple of deer had lost their lives (likely to human poachers).

Yonex Nanospeed 7700

Yonex Nanospeed 7700

I just finished watching 6 hours of the finals of the Australian Open. All that watching sure is tiring LOL. After watching two guys pound a tennis ball from corner to corner for almost 6 hours, I have to think that their legs must be complaining even more loudly. Amazing how good their conditioning must be to endure such physical punishment. I don't play much tennis anymore but still enjoy my badminton outings. After a couple of hours of badminton, my legs are definitely complaining. My racquet is in for restringing and will be good as new in a few days. Takes my legs longer than that LOL. The weather will likely improve, too. Unlikely that my badminton game will improve though :-).

My blog entry from a few days ago: Broken strings and bad weather.
