Northern Mockingbird

Northern Mockingbird

This little guy was in San Antonio. It's a "northern mockingbird," and although the maps say they live here, I've never seen one around home. The name refers to the fact that most mockingbirds are tropical, but this species lives across much of the United States.

Riverwalk

Riverwalk

The San Antonio River is very narrow, and contained, but many fountains, waterfalls and other features keep the river oxygenated and clean enough for fish and waterfowl.

Riverwalk Sights

Riverwalk Sights

From the boat, a shot of three of my favorite sights along the River: Cafe Olé, a great place for Mexican food (and I love the name!); the red Torch of Friendship (La Antorcha de la Amistad) by the Mexican artist Sebastián, commissioned and presented to San Antonio in 2002 by the Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos (Association of Mexican Businesspeople); and the Tower of the Americas, from HemisFair '68.

Bridges

Bridges

Pedestrian and traffic bridges over the Riverwalk, and a boat such as we're on just going out of sight around the bend.
