I received a letter like this in about 1998. I couldn't believe it. I wish I had of changed the images to something unsavoury in hindsight.

At my workplace, we have a very useful function that emails us whenever there is a dead page/image/file on our site, and occasionally we would find that others were using images from our site (only when we re-named/deleted them). We were always amazed at the trust they put in us to not put up something "embarrassing" that would appear on their site.

One of the most valuable skills an Internet user can develop is spotting from someone's attitude, grammar and spelling mistakes that they're 13 years old. :)

    23. jd.piche (36 months ago | reply)

business owner owned. didnt think to just copy the images onto his own desktop and host them himself? some sites change images that they find are getting linked to some vicious shit

My guess is that it isn't real. Instead it's a response from someone who is sick of their images being stolen - and it's brilliant.

      This is ridiculous.

What a fool he is to state that 'He is a honest businessman'

      I could write
      a poem on this
      what he stole
      was already his
      deleting pictures
      that all his clients miss
      something surely is amiss ..

      nice one

Let him contact his lawyer.... then go to court... then bring up punitive damaged.. hehe

    31. FireFish45 (36 months ago | reply)

      This is funny.

But what's not funny is that the link to this image changed.
Seriously, do you know how many of my blogs and social sites I had to go and update the corrected Flickr link to this picture? Before you go and move your pics around on Flickr, why don't you take a minute and think about us 'other' users who are like mosquitos who need your blood to live. Do you want me to wither up and die? Common Man! So do us both a favor before I throw doodie at you in a moving car. Get that old Flickr link back up and operational or else you'll have to take over all of my social profiles across every major social site.

      Poop.

Hahahaha! This guy is either seriously stupid re:copyright, or this is some fine satire you're dishing out. Either way, thanks for a great laugh :)

Oh, and lawyer up yourself so you can get your royalties!

I find it interesting that you took this image off the web (as others have, it's been floating for a week) but you've got it copyrighted. Maybe you should consider changing the settings on this image. I'm sure it was a simple oversight on your part...

anyone who things this is fake, has led a sheltered life.

    38. emrahgunduz77 (36 months ago | reply)

"honest businessman" ? he is an idiot...

    39. Hank Fox (36 months ago | reply)

The proper reply is "I'm terribly sorry, I had no idea I was putting your business at risk. I'd like to come and offer my personal apology, and thank you for liking my images so much. If you would please give me your address, I'll come right over. Again, I sincerely apologize, and I hope we can put this behind us as soon as possible."

Then when you get his address ... (ahem).

There was another story like this a year or so back, in which the guy wasn't even bothering to steal the images. He was HOTLINKING to pictures on someone else's site. When the original user found out, he simply changed the images to pictures of Hitler and porn and stuff, and added something like "Try to be a little less stupid when you steal somebody else's work." The altered pics showed right up on the thief's site, complete with editorial comments.

Some people don't get it. I wish this guy's info was posted. I'm sure if he did it to this person he is doing it to others. Would be nice to be able to block the guy.

I guess the good thing anyone can do it copyright their images and mark them as not downloadable. Sure they can still find ways around it, but such is life. Another thing I have heard others do is only post the lowest resolution image possible on here and then if someone likes it they can contact them to make arrangements to use the better image.

    43. ArleyM (36 months ago | reply)

Ooh that's fun! Put the pictures back, and a week from now change them all, keeping the filenames.

    44. DENelson83 (36 months ago | reply)
