"you HAVE to explain how you've done these!"

I did these shots with my friend, HPEBLEY3. Here's what we did:

      1. Carefully remove glass bulb from a standard household lightbulb.
      2. Screw bulbless filament piece into the socket.
      3. Turn off all lights in room.
      4. Start cameras in drive mode then power up light socket.

The light burns out in about a second, so you end up with 3-5 shots (depending on your camera's FPS speed).

As for the exposure, we were shooting in manual. After taking some readings, I ended up shooting this shot at f/4 at 1/1000 a second. This particular bulb was a 60 watt. On the shots with 40 watt bulbs, I lowered the shutter speed to accommodate the dimmer light.

The purple hue was added in post-processing. I also inverted the image and applied a little bit of selective desaturation.

I hope this explains it well enough.

      Beautiful.

Is the blue at the base just part of the color inversion or did you hand modify that? It goes nicely with the purple smoke.

I've gotta work on my post processing techniques and ways of thinking/seeing... It didn't even occur to me to do a color inversion, even after all your incense shots from earlier.

You seriously nailed this (and the others!)
I've been wanting to try this for a while now,
but havent had the motivation or the guts to
play with it. I know it would take me a case
of bulbs to eventually get 1 halfway right lol
