Still an amazing camera

Still an amazing camera

Today I was working on filing images taken during the high school football season. When I opened this image I was amazed. Recently I had been looking at the new Nikon D4/D800 and hoping that it would drive down the D3 prices. But I looked at this image (yeah, in color which is a deviation in my photostream) in amazement. It was shot with a "vintage" D2H with over 165,000 clicks and a Tokina 80-200mm f2.8. The D2H's ISO was set at 1600, 1/200 second, and the Tokina was wide open. Nothing has been done to this image other than resizing for the web. No noise reduction, no color correction, no sharpening, absolutely nothing.

Now why would I want to sell my 2 D2H bodies for a D3?

Went with my lovely bride around to visit a few new shops that she is going to write some articles on for a local website. As we were heading back to our car, I saw this gate standing open and the title just popped into my head. It is a simple image but for me it has an implied human element.

Can't remember.....

Can't remember.....

For the life of me I cannot remember this lady. I can usually remember shooting most images that I see again but not this time. I figure she must be another local photographer since she has a camera in her lap. Even as lovely as she is, I am drawing a blank....
It is Tri-X probably shot at ISO400 and developed with D-76 1:1. From the other images around it, I think it was shot in late 1999 or early 2000. At that time I was shooting with Nikon F100's and this looks like it was probably the Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 shot wide open.

This was shot probably around 1994/5 with an OM-4T, Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 on Tri-X film. Developed with D-76 1:1 @ 68 degrees F and scanned on a Nikon Coolscan 5000. As I continue to scan my film, I am falling more in love with the tonal range of film. Just not sure if I can handle the expense if I was to go back to shooting only film.......

Took this shot in Seaside, FL, USA, in 1998 with an Olympus OM-4T & Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 AT-X Pro zoom on Tri-X @ ISO400, developed in D-76 1:1. The woman's posture along with the sign captured my attention. This is part of my continuing film scanning effort.
