Akai AX80

Akai AX80 by Ricardipus.
A digital-analogue hybrid synthesizer from the mid-1980s. For those so inclined, it had weedy sounding oscillators, deadly fat 24dB/octave Curtis analogue low-pass filters, a raft of LFOs, and a rather dodgy keyboard action. I bought mine new. Loved it then, love it now.

Some examples of this and other electronic junk from the 80s and 90s can be heard on the audio clips at the bottom of the right-hand sidebar of this site

That, I would like to hear.

I have another synth with lots of red LEDs... and I read about someone who replaced all of them in his with BLUE LEDs. Blue! Oooooo, shiny!

Clearly I need sleep also.

How 'bout a mixure of red, and while leds. A canadian themed led scheme. All Class !
As for the aardvark noises ... I'll wait until I can score some free studio time and make a demo single.

Dave, I'm sorry to report there are some issues with quite a few of the membrane buttons. I'm not really sure how I should handle this, but please get back to me ASAP with your thoughts so we can discuss it further. Also, it doesn't seem the problem lies in the soldering interally but in the buttons themselves -- which I'm not sure can be replaced or fixed, but I can't fix them so it's going to cost me money to have someone else do it. (And, without these buttons active, it prevents me from unleashing the full potential of the synth.)

I have one of those. Its been brought back to working condition with exception of the key scanner chip that checks the state of the parameter keys. It has a stuck line that prevents the last bank of switches (vca) from operating. Kind of goofy sounding but great for noises.
