Great capture of the memorial. I was in university when this tradegy occurred. Little did I know then that I would make a career in searching for black gold. I spend a lot of time on the rigs these days and it can get pretty rough out here sometimes. Things are much much better in the industry these days, safty wise. May this never happen again. Always remember these brave souls!

I was at MUN as well that year. I remember the sinking feeling in my stomach as we waited for news of rescue, and kept hearing nothing. I knew what would happen to anyone who spent any time in the water in February.

I was a kindergarten student in St. John's and I remember the storm vividly, how cold and vicious it was. I also remember my mother telling me about the men in lifeboats. Now I run a boat for a living and spend a lot of time offshore on larger boats, and I NEVER forget how many ways the ocean has to kill. Wonderful photo.
