Painted Ladies (Again)

    Newer Older

Last week, Amy suggested I headed off to Alamo Square as I said I wanted to take some night time photos. And like an idiot I forgot to take my tripod thing with me.

The shot turned out okish though. Even though I was limited to resting the camera on a road sign in a less than great spot.

This week I went back again with tripod to give it another go, which allowed me to move down the street a little bit.

After much fussing around with different ISO, aperture and shutter speed settings I got this (50mm f1.8 4seconds ISO 100). I had to do some filtered out of the colour from the street lighting in photoshop which invariably makes any long exposure photo very orange (using my magic anti-orange filter).

    No HDR thank goodness!

I love the blue light glow in the high rise buildings in the distance.

I'm afraid the decades of reruns of the 1987 television hit "Full House" has completely destroyed my ability to view this photograph for its artistic worth. Instead, I can only hear the following lyrics, over and over:

Everywhere you look , everywhere you go (there's a heart).
      There's a heart
      A hand to hold onto...

Maybe you should just delete this comment before I infect others with this pernicious meme virus.

No HDR, please. Very fine picture as it is.

That definitely goes way beyond okish! That is absolutely magnificent! Love the lights and the clouds in the back too. Thanks for putting this great shot up here at Flickr with a CC license. We have put it up at our site at aaronlanguage.com/bureaucratic_translation_essay.htm, which is an essay about bureaucratese and Japanese to English translation. Your name under the photo then links to our credits page at aaronlanguage.com/additionallinks/credits_2.html, where your name then links to your profile at Flickr. And thanks again!
